The Dirty South The Dirty South During the times of the courtly Rights Movement the black communities of Birmingham, Alabama suffered severely due to the infamous acts of racism geared towards them simply because they were black. They boldly endured beatings, lynching, bombings, and demeaning intervention from the white community and especially from the Clan. The September 15, 1963 racially propel bombing of the Birminghams Sixteenth Street Baptist Church, which resulted in the deaths of four-spot innocent black girls, was one of the darkest moments of the Civil Rights Movement and perchance one of the darkest days in Birmingham, Alabamas history.
