The Cherokee good deal had lived in the Southeastern part of this coarse co here(predicate)nt before any white man had even know this land existed. Many archaeologists believe the Cherokee have lived here for thousands of days before us. If you were to ask a Cherokee how long they have lived here they would answer that they have always lived here, that this is where there peoples beginnings are traced to. As Americans we know how easy it is to shrink given over to one area of this country and have strong feelings for that stupefy, the place that we call home. The Cherokee too had very sentimental feelings for a limited part of this country, the place they referred to as their home and their land. Many Americans including our political leaders did not always see it this way or look at the scenario through the Cherokees eyes.
America won the Revolutionary War and with this victory they also claimed the rights that England had previous to the war, which include sovereign authority over all the land and people within its domain. Many Indian tribes had been allies with the English and sexual intercourse felt that they too would forfeit any land they had claimed prior to the war. Even the Indians who had sided with America returned home to find their villages overrun and interpreted by white settlers.



It was during this time that states especially south of the Ohio river wide all the way west to the Mississippi river and beyond.
State legislatures in North Carolina and Georgia forced the Cherokee to give up wide tracts of their land in 1783. The Cherokee in the South, though upset, did not reply in the same manner that the northern Indians did. In the Ohio country congress had its hands full with warfare and quickly answer to rethink a different policy for the Cherokee and other grey nations.
